ACCE Canada-Wide Arts Competition On CancerCare Equity

Overview

The Alliance For CancerCare Equity (ACCE) invites undergraduate and master’s students across Canada to submit creative work that critically reflects on inequity in cancer care. This national arts competition raises funds for ACCE while amplifying student voices through creative expression and human-centered storytelling.

Competition Prompt

“How would you explain inequity in cancer care to someone who has never thought about it?”

Participants are encouraged to interpret this prompt creatively and thoughtfully, drawing on personal insight, research, observation, or lived experience.

Eligible Submission Types

Participants may submit one creative work in one of the following formats:

  • Photography
  • Artwork (drawing, painting, or digital art)
  • Poetry (200-400 words max)
  • Short articles (500–600 words)
  • Short stories (500-700 words max)
  • Short videos/edits (3-4 min maximum)

Submission Requirements

  1. Reflection: All submissions must include a 250–400 word reflection explaining the inspiration behind the work and how it connects to the competition prompt.
  2. Donation: Entry requires a $3 donation to ACCE.
    • Donations can be made using the link below: ACCE Giving Options
    • Note: If you use PayPal or CanadaHelps, please include the required minimal fee. The e-transfer method does not require any fee. Please screenshot your donation confirmation and upload it with your submission.
    • If you are unable to make the donation due to circumstances, please indicate this in your submission.

First-Place Winner:

  • ACCE First Place Award for Creative Advocacy in CancerCare Equity
  • Work published on the ACCE website!
  • Credited by name + picture (this year's winner!)
  • Recognized as the annual ACCE Arts Competition winner!

How to Submit

Please prepare your files (Creative Work + Donation Screenshot).

  • Accepted file formats: PDF, JPEG, PNG, and video files (MP4 or MOV).
  • Video Limits: Max 3-4 mins. If file size is an issue, please upload a document containing a private YouTube or Vimeo link.
  • Max file size: 100 MB per file.

Submission Deadline: April 13th, 2026
